I think after another successful year with events at Holmeswood Koi (the society show), and Southport Flower Show showing both an increase in the society funds and more importantly an increase in membership we cannot sit back and think it will be the same this year. The committee and my self try and develop new and varied events to keep member’s interested and active in the art of bonsai.
In setting our agenda for 2011 the committee has taken a radical change that we hope to get the full support of the membership and relieve some of the pressure from our show manager. It’s the unanimous belief of the committee that after the trials and tribulations of the Southport Flower Show last year we should retire while we are at the top going out with Gold and Large Gold for our grand floral marquee and societies marquee respectively.
We have a very full and varied agenda for 2011 with invited guest speakers and our own members again giving presentations. Details are posted on the agenda page.
Our thanks go to all our speakers for 2010 and the quality and quantity of valuable advice they all managed to pack into the limited time available and to everyone involved in ensuring the enjoyment and success of all these events.
Once again, under the guidance of our Show manager Chris Ryding, we won awards at the 2010 Southport Flower Show, . However, with medals to show for the effort put in by himself and the members of the Society and the opportunity to "talk bonsai" with the general public, it continues to be an event we look forward to. Hopefully the successes of The National Bonsai Society have contributed to the raised standards and increased competition, setting a new target for 2011
The results ... * Gold Medal for the Floral Marquee entry * Large Gold Medal for the Societies Marquee entry
Well done everyone! Your achievements are a credit to the Society and the time, work and effort you contribute greatly appreciated.
